Chiefs call up DT Marcus Harris for Jets game with Peter Woods ruled out
With rookie Peter Woods out, the Chiefs elevated Marcus Harris for Sunday's home game against the Jets. It is his third and final elevation of the season.

The Kansas City Chiefs added interior depth on Saturday. They elevated defensive tackle Marcus Harris from the practice squad for Sunday's home game against the New York Jets, according to the NFL's daily transaction report as relayed by SB Nation. The story was also carried by Yahoo Sports.
The move follows an injury. Rookie defensive tackle Peter Woods was ruled out on the week's final injury report, which leaves an opening in the rotation that Harris could fill with more than spot duty. The former Kansas Jayhawk was elevated for the first two games of the season while Bryson Eason was learning the system, and he played seven defensive snaps across those two appearances. Harris had made the 53-man roster out of training camp, then was released a day later when the Chiefs claimed Eason and defensive end Jack Pyburn off waivers. He signed back to the practice squad right away.
This is also the last time the Chiefs can call him up this way. Sunday is Harris' third elevation, the most a practice squad player is allowed in a regular season. If Kansas City wants him in uniform again, it will have to sign him to the active roster. Help may be coming from another direction, though. SB Nation notes that second-year tackle Omarr Norman-Lott, who tore his ACL in 2025, is near the end of his 21-day practice window to come off the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list. Harris goes back to the practice squad automatically after the game.
The Chiefs did not use their second available elevation. SB Nation reads that as a sign punt returner Nikko Remigio, listed as questionable with a hip injury, expects to play. Rookie returner Jacob De Jesus, who was in training camp with the team, joined the practice squad Wednesday as cover.
What it means against the Jets
Kansas City is 5-2 but comes into Week 9 on its first losing streak of the season. The Chiefs managed just three points in a 20-3 loss at Seattle, then lost 28-24 at Denver a week later. Both losses came on the road. The Chiefs are 3-0 at Arrowhead, with wins over the Broncos (31-10), the Colts (33-30) and the Chargers (22-6). Over seven games they have scored 167 points and allowed 131, an average of about 24 scored and 19 allowed per game.
With Woods out, the defensive line will be tested on early downs, and a front that kept the Chargers to six points will be leaning on younger depth. Kickoff is Sunday on CBS.
