Kansas City Chiefs 35, New York Jets 12: Jets settle for four field goals
The Jets kicked four field goals and never reached the end zone as the Chiefs won 35-12 at Arrowhead to move to 6-2 and cover the 8.5.

The New York Jets moved the ball well enough to stay in this game for a half, but they never scored a touchdown. Jason Sanders kicked four field goals, the Jets went 2-of-11 on third down, and the Kansas City Chiefs turned their red-zone trips into touchdowns on the way to a 35-12 win at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday.
The Jets held the ball longer, 29:34 to 24:40, and won the turnover count, giving it away once to Kansas City's two. None of that mattered against 12 points.
The win snaps a two-game losing streak for the Chiefs, who had dropped games at Seattle and Denver, and lifts them to 6-2. The Jets fall to 2-7.
How it was won
New York scored first and scored often in the opening half, just never for more than three. Sanders hit from 23 yards at 6:47 of the first quarter and from 48 yards at 4:35.
Kansas City answered on the first play of the second quarter, Patrick Mahomes finding Kenneth Walker III for a 7-yard touchdown at 14:56. Sanders added a 49-yarder at 8:12, Mahomes and Walker connected again from 25 yards at 5:37, and Sanders closed his day with a 54-yarder at 2:16. That was the last time the Jets scored.
The second half belonged to Kansas City. Travis Kelce ran in a 1-yard touchdown at 10:20 of the third quarter, and Walker added a 2-yard rushing score with 11 seconds left in the period. Harrison Butker converted every extra point listed.
Mahomes was efficient: 21 of 29 for 225 yards and two touchdowns. Walker was the centerpiece, carrying 18 times for 102 yards and a score on the ground to go with his two receiving touchdowns. Kelce caught three passes for 67 yards, and Xavier Worthy led the team with six catches for 48. Emmett Johnson added 19 yards on three carries.
Kansas City finished with 341 total yards, 211 passing and 130 rushing, and 24 first downs. The Chiefs converted 4 of 9 third downs.
The Jets managed 201 yards and 13 first downs. Geno Smith completed 16 of 27 passes for 138 yards with no touchdowns, and the passing game netted 96 yards. Breece Hall ran 15 times for 61 yards and Braelon Allen 7 times for 32, giving New York 105 on the ground. Omar Cooper Jr. caught seven passes for 42 yards, and Kenyon Sadiq had three for 38.
Against the number
Kansas City closed at -8.5 and won by 23, a comfortable cover for the favorite. The moneyline closed at -455 for the Chiefs and +350 for the Jets.
The total closed at 47.5, and 47 points went up. That is an under by half a point, and it came down to the Jets' drives stalling: one touchdown in place of any of Sanders' four field goals would have pushed it over. The full closing board is on the game page.
