Chiefs at Falcons: Kansas City Visits Atlanta With Questions on the Edges
The Chiefs head to Mercedes-Benz Stadium as road favorites, but reports about the offensive tackle spot and the secondary give this trip some edge.
The Kansas City Chiefs travel to Atlanta for a 1:00 PM ET kickoff on Sunday, Nov. 15, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. They arrive as favorites, but the week's reporting has focused on depth more than dominance. Sports Illustrated asked how serious the Chiefs' offensive tackle problem is, and Yahoo Sports reported that a Chiefs star cornerback was ruled out. Those are the two areas to watch against the Falcons.
The tackle question shapes the Chiefs' offensive plan. If the edges hold, Kansas City can run its usual offense. If they don't, expect quicker throws and more help for the tackles, which limits what the offense can do downfield. On defense, a secondary without a key starter has to stay disciplined in a dome where offenses tend to be comfortable. How the Chiefs handle both edges of the field will probably decide whether this game stays close.
Off the field, Travis Kelce has drawn attention again. Yahoo Sports reported he "can't wait" ahead of a Taylor Swift milestone. Rashee Rice is also in the news, with Fox News reporting that commentator Craig Carton criticized Chiefs teammates for not helping Rice avoid bankruptcy. SB Nation's midseason market movers piece adds to the sense that the roster's standing is being reassessed at the halfway point. None of that changes the assignment on Sunday, which is to protect the passer and cover in the back end.
The market lists Kansas City at -190 to win outright, with a total of 46.5. That points to a modest road edge and a game expected to land in a middle scoring range.
